VEKTORS

Vektors is the new solo project by Italian composer and producer Ed Carlsen, trading the introspective tones of his past work for a rawer, sharper sound influenced by post-rock, ambient pop and electronic music.

This new sonic landscape leans on tight grooves, saturated guitars, analog synths, and a voice that blends into the sonic fabric—more texture than statement.

The self-released debut album, “Sorry I'm Late” (out October 10, 2025), was shaped between Ed’s hometown of Cagliari (IT) and Brighton (UK), cementing this sonic shift. Produced by Rob Flynn (Phoria, Helen Ganya, and more), “Sorry I’m Late” presents a fresh, exploratory identity and a clear departure from Ed’s earlier work. More than just a producer, Rob was a close creative partner throughout the process, helping to shape the album’s direction and push the sound into unexpected territory.

The album will be available for streaming and digital download, but there are plans to release vinyl as well, a bit further down the line.

“Sorry I’m Late is an unapologetically self-referential album, capturing a specific chapter of my life that I found myself in not too long ago. It took a fairly long hiatus before I could re-invent myself completely, musically speaking. With my previous project (Ed Carlsen), I felt like I had said everything I had to say. And when you’re out of things to say, it’s best to say nothing. So I’ve temporarily put it to rest”

Debut single releases on 06/06: “Faraway” is a post-rock-infused electronic track shaped by introspective songwriting and immersive atmospheres. A meditative journey that builds toward a powerful climax, marking a new chapter in Vektors’ artistic evolution:

“In the album - and in Faraway, in particular - lyrics are written in a symbolic language - they may seem straightforward, but everything I sing about is intentionally ambiguous. The references to ‘you’ or feminine figures shouldn’t be taken literally or romantically. This isn’t a breakup record - unless you count breaking up with your own delusions. It’s an album of transformation: about the tension between accepting where you are, and the happy accidents unfolding in the path that follows.”

“Working with Rob (Flynn) allowed me to move into unexplored and unexpected sonic territories. I feel like this took an unbelievable amount of pressure away from me, so that I could exclusively focus on songwriting. When I reached out to him, we talked extensively about sound-shaping and he immediately understood what I was looking for. He nailed it since day one and I’m still blown away by how he spotted the key moments of the album and made them literally explode with energy.”

Ed Carlsen will still exist on all streaming platforms and it will remain Ed’s main brand and identity when it comes to his prolific activity as a composer for tv/film/soundtrack.
